OPTIMUM Project travelled to Madeira, Portugal, in order to be present in the 23rd ICE/IEEE International Technology Management Conference that took place on the 27th, 28th and 29th of June 2017, in Madeira Island (Portugal). Organizer of this conference was one of the OPTIMUM project partners, i.e. the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, UNINOVA (namely GRIS), together with Universidade do Minho.
As this conference is a place where research, science and innovation meet, this has been a great opportunity for OPTIMUM to get in closer touch with the external to the project world, to present its context and objectives, but more importantly, to demonstrate its already developed Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications.
Notably, OPTIMUM was featured during the conference's keynote speeches, on the plenary panel of the second day of the conference, among various EC and other European organizations' representatives. Indicatively, among the speakers of the panel were Arian Zwegers (EC DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology), Chris Decubber, (EFFRA - European FoF Research Association), Karina Marcus (COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology) and Bruno Chenard, (CEN/CENELEC- European Committee for Standardization).
Among the various ideas and debates that took place, Mrs. Akrivi Kiousi (INTRASOFT International S.A.), coordinator of OPTIMUM project, had the opportunity to speak about the importance of innovation in ITS, as well as about the role of Big Data in transport.
Under this light, OPTIMUM project was specifically highlighted, explaining to the more than 200 attendees in the audience its main objectives and pilots involved, also presenting and discussing the exploitation opportunities that are stemming out of the project.
